Early morning yoga and self care with Angela from Milk Cafe

Angela from Milk in her Cafe

We were delighted to catch up with Angela from Milk Cafe. She tells us about what it's like to be running a small business and still find time for her self care so she can keep supporting others.

1. How long have you been practicing yoga for?

I took a few yoga classes at university but I never stuck with it very long, however,  I've been coming to your Studio regularly since you opened and it is the longest I've stayed with a practice so far. The studio is lovely and the timetable is great as there are classes at all times of the day.

2. What keeps you coming back to your mat every week?

It's a mixture of things, I really enjoy the quiet hour where my focus is just on my breath and my movement. I have quite a busy life so the opportunity for some calm is very welcome. The early morning class is a great way to start the day, even if it is a struggle when the alarm goes off!

3. What’s your favourite yoga pose?

I like the balance poses because they require a lot of focus but I also really enjoy anything that stretches my hips and my back as I struggle with tight muscles sometimes. (notice I didn't actually name a pose there as I 'm not sure what they're called!!)

4.How does your yoga practice help you in your role as a small business owner?

As I said before it helps to keen me centered and focused and it reminds me to practice self care; running a small business can demand a lot of your time and it can be easy to forget to put yourself first. If you don't take care of yourself, how can you offer support to anyone else?

Thanks for sharing with us Angela. Milk is such a wonderful cafe and the most special thing about it is the lovely community it has created.  If you haven't been to Milk before get yourself down there for some amazing coffee, food and friendly faces! If you want to join Angela in starting your day with studio 70 come along to one of our Tuesday and Thursday 7am classes.
