Rosie discusses what she enjoys most about our yoga community

Yoga student

1. How long have you been practicing yoga for?

I've been practicing yoga from the start of 2017, so I'm a relative newbie

2. What keeps you coming back to your mat every week?

It's really rare that you get a chance to just switch into a mode where your focus is on movement and body. I also really love the atmosphere in Studio 70. It's really calm and the teachers are very supportive.

It can be quite intimidating when you are new as I think there's an idea of what you hope to look like or be able to do. Studio 70 is really welcoming and it takes that fear away. Until I'm desperately trying to do crow!

3. What aspects of your yoga practice are you focusing on at the moment?

I want to build on core and upper body strength. The strength in my arms, shoulders and back limit me doing chaturanga flows, so that's something I'm working on at the moment.

4. What advice would you give someone wanting to try yoga for the first time?

Give it a go and don't take anything too seriously! There'll be elements that are tough but there'll also be things that just click with you. If you let yourself go enough and just enjoy it, you will come out at the end of a class feeling really refreshed.

5. Why do you come to Studio 70?

I heard about the studio from a few friends and it is on my way to work. I'm gutted I miss out on the nice post class breakfast trips! Michelle and Laura have been nothing but friendly, welcoming and really take an interest in everyone's practice in their classes. I genuinely think I'll improve my practice in the studio and these teachers which is great for me.

6. What's your favourite yoga pose?

I'm a fan of balancing poses in general as I love the focus you need to stay in them. My favourite is warrior 3, I love the big stretch you get and you feel like you are about to take off!

7. Tell us one fun fact about yourself!

When Michelle plays Prince or Grace Jones in class I always have a wee dance at the back

As Rosie says...Give it a go! Come along and try a class.
