FAQs
Do I need to be at a particular level or ability to participate?
This fundraiser is open to beginners to advanced practitioners. Our studio isn’t fully accessible with 25 stairs access to the 1st floor, and 4 subsequent stairs within our premesis.
We will offer various options in all classes for practitioners with rest woven through - there will be the explicit invitation to take breaks and leave the room when you need. However there is an endurance aspect to the fundraiser and as with any endurance event - you are required to be fit and healthy to participate. You should consult a doctor if you have any concerns at all about your ability to participate in this kind of event.
Can I adapt the practices?
Yes absolutely. Move as much or as little as you want, engage actively or passively. Lots of accessible adaptations will be offered and all teachers will be mindful of the marathon context and offer lots of rest. Some practices will be purely meditative, restorative and focusing on rest.
One of the practices isn’t right for me, can I skip or modify that?
Yes of course. Programming 12 hours of yoga is always going to have complexities. If you would prefer not to practice or skip a practice entirely we will have our therapy room available throughout the marathon and you are welcome to skip any practice that doesn't feel right for you and use this space to meditate, journal or rest. If you want any information about any of the practices in advance to judge if it's right for you please get in touch and we can answer your questions.
As always, you’re more than welcome to modify practices too if you would like to stay in the room but practice in your own way.
Can I take breaks, use the bathroom etc?
Yes, whenever you want! You're free to leave the space and return as you wish. We will also have a break out space for participants to be throughout the fundraiser should you require a break or some time to yourself.
Can I eat and drink?
Yes there will be two dedicated breaks for meals and shorter bathroom/tea breaks throughout the day. For marathoners lunch and dinner will be provided. We are currently seeking meal and snack donations for our participants where we can finalise a menu. If you are intersted in potentially donating meals please email us at info@studio70glasgow.com
Is there a break out space?
Yes the therapy room at Studio 70 will be available to anyone who wishes to take a break from the main studio and can be accessed anytime throughout the event.
How does fundraising work?
More specific information will be updated closer to launch but there will be a £250 expectation per personal fundraising expectation for all marathon participants. This will include an initial £50 registration fee. You will then get access to a fundraising page directly to Medical aid palestine.
I can't commit to the 12hour marathon but I'd love to drop in and support how can I do this?
Depending on expressions of interest in our 12 hour marathon spaces we will open up single, drop in practices available for purchase. These will be limited and all money paid towards these classes will be directly donated to Medical Aid Palestine.
Register for more info above for access to these drop in classes first.
I can't attend physically but I'd like to show my support
Thank you for your support! You can donate to and share our Just Giving Page (link to be provided soon) and post a message of encouragement for the marathoners! Some practices will also be livestreamed on Instagram - you’re welcome to join for these and encouraged to donate online.
