Member Spotlight with Loa

What's your fave studio 70 class?

Jasmine's Flow Yoga class on a Tuesday evening - she's a brilliant teacher.

Favourite yoga pose?

Any type of heart opener. They make me feel as though there's a beam of light pulsing through my body.

What keeps you coming back to your mat every week?

The mat is one of the few places where my mind settles into stillness and I truly believe a lot of unconscious processing happens during class. Yoga has also been critical in negotiating my relationship with my body. We tend to store a lot of emotions in the cracks and crevices of our body so I'm a big advocate for somatic approaches to healing!

What's on your headphones at the moment?

Mansur Brown has been providing me with the perfect soundscape during essay-writing season.

What are you reading/ watching?

I'm one of those people who juggles multiple books at once much to people's horror. My current reads are 'Can the monster speak?' by Paul B. Preciado, 'My Grandmothers Hands' by Resmaa Menaken and 'The essential June Jordan' which is a collection of poems by activist and poet June Jordan.

Your most loved shop/restaurant in the Southside?

Khan Superstore - nothing beats a £1 bowl of ginger.
